Takeshi Tamura, M.D.


I have over 30 years of experience in working with children, adolescents, families, and communities, both in Japan and abroad. Through living in various parts of the world, I have gained an appreciation for diverse cultures and values.

I was born in 1957 and grew up in Tokyo. Stayed one year in North Carolina, U.S.A. as an AFS International Scholarship high school exchange program. Japan America Student Conference (JASC). My lifetime cultural experience

About my Professional Training. I had 6 years of undergraduate and medical education, followed by 4 years of psychiatric training at University of Tsukuba. I stayed three years in London as the British Council Scholarship Fellow. I took family therapy training at the Tavistock Clinic and the Institute of Family Therapy. I obtained MSc degree in family therapy from Birkbeck College, London University.

About my Work Experiences. I started my clinical practice as a psychiatrist in various psychiatric hospitals in Tokyo area when I was in my mid-20s.I was a faculty member of Tokyo Gakugei University from 1992 to 2011 as full professorship for the last five years (2007-2011).
